Get to know Laura

My work with herbs as medicine started from the day I was born thanks of my grandmother who had a cupboard full of all sort, some smelt great , others you would need a strong stomach for & before her was my great grandmother Ellen who was know locally as someone who would sort you out with a tonic bottle for all your troubles.

I grew up taking naturally remedies & eating nettle bread, but it wasn’t until my 30’s that i decided that the plants where to be my allies & to make it official , I went to study under 2 amazing herbalist  Nikki Darrell & then Gina McGarry.

I learnt so much from each the important of care we need to pay to the plants .

What does a herbalist do?

A herbalist uses plants and other natural substances to improve health, promote healing, prevent and treat illness. It’s a great way for someone to feel empowered, to take control of their own healing!

What is herbal medecin made from?

Herbal Medecines are plant-based, made from different combinations of plant parts e.g. leaves, flower or roots. Each part can have different medicinal uses and have many types of chemical constituents. Both fresh and dried plant matter are used it just depends on the herb.

Are herbs safe?

Herbs for the most past, are more gentle on the body than prescription medication and have fewer side effects. They are also less expensive. They are safe for young children, teenagers and elderly as a full intake is taken beofre any herbal formulas are recommended.

It is often felt that allopathic and herbal medecine can’t work together but this is wrong. They do complement one another. While chemical drugs are actively killing bacteria and viruses, herbal Medicine build and restore the system.
